Instructions
1. Position the litter box on a flat surface in a quiet spot
Avoid busy areas where your cat can startle from people walking by frequently.
2. Sprinkle 1-2 handful of pine wood pellets in the bottom bin.
This prevents a puddle of urine forming when sawdust has not yet fallen from the sieve in a freshly changed litter box.
3. Place the sieve on the bottom bin and fill with 0.8″/2 cm of pellets
Unlike traditional litter, adding more is unnecessary as it accelerates pellet soling and diminishes the longevity.
4. Place the base over the two bottom layers
Initially, place the litter box without the flap and cover, so that your cat has a secure open space to get used to it.
5. Open the backside of the scoop and insert a roll of poopbags
Thread a bag through the front opening while still attached to the roll and place the rest in the holder.
6. Hang the scoop inside or outside on the scoop ledge of the base
Whatever is most convenient for you or your cat. The scoop can always be within reach.
7. Place the lid back on the base if you would like a closed litter box
If your cat prefers an open litter box, leave it off and put aside to use as a holder for the sieve when cleaning the bottom bin.
Tips for use and acceptance?
- Initially, place the litter box without the flap and cover so that your cat has a secure open space to get used to it.
- introduce the litter box with familiar used cat litter so it can recognize the smell.
- If possible, place the litter box in a quiet, somewhat secluded place. As your cat likes its privacy when doing here business.
- Two or more cats? Provide at least one litter box for each cat. Your cat doesn't like competing for a spot on the litter box.
- Avoid situating the litter box near their food and water bowls, as proximity may lead to your cat avoiding the litter box. Cats generally prefer a separate, clean area for eating and drinking.
- Remove the flap if this is not convenient for your cat.
Tips for switching to wood pellet litter
The GIZMO litter box is optimized for use with pine wood pellets. If you are transitioning to pine wood, there are a few things you need to do to make it as smooth as possible for both you and your cat.
With a little patience, the transition will be smooth and seamless:
- Leave the sieve out you when you initially set up the litter box.
- Start by adding a small amount of pine litter to the old litter type and mix them together well.
- Over the course of a week, gradually increase the amount of pine litter while decreasing the amount of the old litter. This will give you cat time to get used to the new smell and texture of the pine litter.
- Once you have fully transitioned to the pine litter, you can put back the sieve and enjoy the full benefit from the double-layer litter system.
Overall, making the switch to wood pellet cat litter is fairly simple and straightforward. Just be sure to do it slowly and give your cat time to get used to the new litter. If your cat really can't get used to it, you can always leave out the sieve and use the preferred cat litter with the bottom bin.

How often do I need to clean the GIZMO litter box?
The GIZMO litter box is designed to make cleaning a breeze. With the double-layer litter system, 90% of the urine drains through the sieve into the bottom tray, trapping odors and keeping the litter clean. You only need to scoop out the solid waste regularly and top up the wood pellets as needed. We recommend emptying the sawdust from the bottom tray every week for optimal freshness.

Cleaning the GIZMO litter box is pretty straight forward!
- Place the sieve inside the backside of the top lid to prevent sawdust from spilling on your floor.
